{"id":13775,"date":"2021-07-28T11:34:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T11:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cityadventurers.co.uk\/blog\/?p=13775"},"modified":"2022-04-20T10:24:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T10:24:48","slug":"chocolate-museums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cityadventurers.co.uk\/blog\/?p=13775","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate museums"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Before the pandemic the City Adventurers were lucky enough to visit a number of Chocolate museums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">York\u2019s Chocolate Story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>York\u2019s Chocolate Story is located in the heart of York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our group arrived and were taken through the story of chocolate and the history of York\u2019s most famous chocolate-making families. From the Chocolate Orange to the Kit Kat, we discovered chocolate\u2019s origins, how to make it, how to taste it like an expert, as well as the sustainable future of chocolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the tour we were able to make our own chocolate lollies to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yorkschocolatestory.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">York\u2019s Chocolate Story<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cityadventurers.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/07\/img_0349.jpg\" alt=\"York chocolate museum - photo by Juliamaud\" class=\"wp-image-3131\"\/><figcaption>York chocolate museum \u2013 photo by Juliamaud<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cadbury World<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You cannot think of chocolate museums without thinking of Cadbury World. Situated at Bournville, near Birmingham, this attraction offers free parking spaces for visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1990, Cadbury World features a number of zones sharing the history of chocolate and the story of Cadbury. There is even a ride through part to the experience. And again, you get to eat the products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadburyworld.co.uk\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cadbury World<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cityadventurers.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/07\/dscn1751.jpg\" alt=\"Cadbury - Photo by Juliamaud\" class=\"wp-image-3134\"\/><figcaption>Cadbury \u2013 Photo by Juliamaud<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hershey is the iconic American brand of chocolate, which makes The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue the place for chocolate lovers to go. The Hershey Company is rich in chocolate history, with early inventions dating back to 1892. The attraction celebrates the history of Milton S. Hershey and the confectionary he founded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were a little upset the two times we went to The Hershey Story, as you could buy the chocolates but you didn\u2019t get the big \u201cfree samples\u201d you do in England. Maybe things have changed since we visited, first in 1988 and again in 2007. We were there for the 100 years of Happy celebration at Hershey Park in 2007. The current visitor experience, housed in Pennsylvania, opened in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hersheystory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Hershey Story<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cityadventurers.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/07\/dscn0777-edited.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3140\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schokoladenmuseum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On a trip to Cologne, we happened upon one of the top ten German museums \u2013 The&nbsp;Imhoff-Schokoladenmuseum&nbsp;or Imhoff chocolate museum. It was opened in 1993 and shows the history of&nbsp;chocolate&nbsp;to contemporary products and production methods. Since March 2006, the&nbsp;Swiss chocolate&nbsp;manufacturer&nbsp;Lindt &amp; Spr\u00fcngli&nbsp;has been its partner in producing exhibits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schokoladenmuseum.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Schokoladenmuseum<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Join City Adventurers and start exploring\u2026..<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Join our club for people who want to live life to the full.
