The stakes were high. Could he and his lawyers convince the jury of his innocence, or would he face the hangman\u2019s noose?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We arrived at London County Hall and took our seats in what used to be the Council Chamber. An impressive building, it was a fitting venue to use as a courtroom. The jury were already seated in the jury box and were sworn in before proceedings began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then the lights dimmed and we became embroiled in a gripping story of justice, passion, and betrayal. For this was a powerful performance of&nbsp;<strong>Agatha Christie<\/strong>\u2019s&nbsp;<em><strong>Witness for the Prosecution<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A fantastic show by a very large cast. Recommended<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cityadventurers.files.wordpress.com\/2022\/05\/20220517_191722.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3465\"\/><figcaption>photo by Juliamaud<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Witness for the Prosecution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Witness for the Prosecution began life as a&nbsp;short story in 1925 by Agatha Christie.&nbsp;She disliked the original ending and so changed it. She later adapted it into a play, which opened in 1953.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;film version of the play was released in 1958. Directed by&nbsp;Billy Wilder it started Tyrone Power, Charles Laughton and&nbsp;Marlene Dietrich.
