I was surprised to find it located in a modern building as I thought it was housed in a church hall.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13121\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13121\" style=\"width: 3648px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13121\" src=\"https:\/\/cityadventurers.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/img_0279.jpg\" alt=\"The Musical Museum - photo by Juliamaud\" width=\"3648\" height=\"2736\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Musical Museum &#8211; photo by Juliamaud<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It turns out the museum used to be housed in\u00a0<span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">the former St George\u2019s Church.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Frank Holland, who founded the museum, <\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">\u00a0was given the use of the premises to store<\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">\u00a0his\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">private collection there in 1963. It was only supposed to be for\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">two years, but the museum was still there 40 years later!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200bThe collections new home was specially designed for the Musical Museum. It was opened in June 2008 and includes the instrument galleries, and a climate-controlled roll library (of over 20,000 music rolls), a workshop, concert hall, and cafe.\u00a0<\/span>We were treated to a guided tour followed by a few musical numbers on the the Mighty Wurlitzer.<\/p>\n<h2>For Christmas 2019<\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Musical Museum <span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Annual Christmas Extravaganza &#8211; The Christmas Concert &#8211; will be held on\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\"><strong>Sunday 15th December.<\/strong> They are also holding<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a <span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Carol Concert with <\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">The Hogarth Singers on <\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Friday 13th December, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">a Classical Concert with the <\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Maiastra &#8211; String Quartet on <\/span><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Saturday 14th December <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color:var(--color-text);\">Regular guided tours &amp; instrument demonstrations take place throughout the year on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
