We were amazed by the performances and even more amazed that the final act staged a water finale. Turns out it is one of only&nbsp;two&nbsp;circus in the UK with an impressive water finale. Step into the Circus Arena and you are literally stepping back in time.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2b50<em>Dating back to 1894, it is the oldest permanent Circus Arena in the world<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50<em>The Circus first opened to the public on&nbsp;14 May 1894, admission was from&nbsp;6d&nbsp;(sixpence)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50<em>Sitting at the base of the great Tower, within the giant legs, the 110 x 110 foot Arena seats an audience of 1,300 people<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50The present interior of the Circus was created by the famous theatre designer,&nbsp;Frank Matcham, and was completed in 1900<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50Every Blackpool Tower Circus performance has concluded with a spectacular water finale. The Arena\u2019s unique design features a hydraulic floor that sinks and fills with&nbsp;42,000 gallons of water&nbsp;in less than a minute \u2013 a depth of 4 feet 6 inches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50The Circus has never missed a season since it began in 1894<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50Long before he became famous as a Hollywood film star, the comedian,&nbsp;W.C.Fields, spent a season before the First World War at the Circus as a juggler<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50Until 1990 The Circus featured wild animals performing in the ring including lions, tigers, polar bears and elephants. The cages and pens where they were kept were beneath the Arena and still exist today<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50Sporting events that have been held in the circus ring include boxing, wrestling and snooker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50Bolton comedian Peter Kay performed his show which later became \u201cLive from the Top of the Tower\u201d on 10th-11th April 2000. It was performed in The Blackpool Tower Circus arena<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2b50For each era of The Blackpool Tower Circus, there has been a resident clown. Today it is\u00a0Mooky, but previous generations laughed at the antics of August &amp; September, Doodles and the well-remembered\u00a0Charlie Cairoli<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblackpooltower.com\/history\/the-circus\/\">https:\/\/www.theblackpooltower.com\/history\/the-circus\/<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blackpool Tower Eye is currently closed until March 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Want to join us on an adventure?
