After a three hour drive in the early morning, we arrived at Chichester around breakfast time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chichester is the only city in West Sussex and is its county town. An important settlement during Anglo-Saxon times, it is home to a monumental cathedral dating from the 12th century. It is also home to the Chichester Festival Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing how many excellent places there are to get breakfast or brunch along our local high street, which is in a residential area and not a place to find tourists, we were expected a quaint tea shop or country pub selling a full English. So we pulled off the A27 for breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a surprise we got when there was no such place to be found. The area around the station included a venue that served food all day\u2026..but only after 12 noon. There were a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby but they too were similarly closed. We ventured further and found a waterfront caf\u00e9 that was open for coffee but only had outdoor seating. In late November, I think not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then spotted a leisure park with a sign showing it included numerous restaurants and a premier inn hotel. Hurrah, an hotel meant there must be a breakfast venue nearby. We hurried around the estate to find all the restaurants closed except for a lone McDonald\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were extremely disappointed with the options available. I wondered if other tourists felt the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
