After the\u00a0Great Fire of London in 1666,Christopher Wren came up with plans to rebuild the city.\u00a0\u00a0He designed 51 new city churches, as well as the new St Paul&#8217;s Cathedral.<\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"title\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"title\">He\u00a0was given control of all government building in the country in 1669 when he was appointed surveyor of the royal works and was\u00a0knighted in 1673.<\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"title\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"title\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"title\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"London: Christopher Wren&#039;s Churches\" width=\"748\" height=\"421\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RYV8D007qRc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"date\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"date\">Sir \u00a0Christopher Wren was also commissioned to design the Royal Observatory in 1675 \u00a0and\u00a0a hospital for sailors in 1696. Both are at\u00a0Greenwich.\u00a0In 1997 UNESCO awarded World Heritage Site status was to &#8216;Maritime Greenwich\u2019.
