Since September murals have been appearing throughout the area.\u00a0Art work includes a piece by internationally renowned artist\u00a0\u2018Phlegm\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Clack, wood street walls\u00a0founder, told the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/13313570.Walthamstow__embracing__street_art_as_group_aims_to_make_E17_as_successful_as_Miami_neighbourhood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guardian newspaper<\/a>,\u00a0&#8220;We need to identify and encourage the next generation of artists, especially given the artistic heritage in this borough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The WSW hopes to open affordable studio spaces around the borough to encourage art in the community as Waltham Forest far fewer\u00a0studio spaces compared with nearby Hackney.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Wood Street Walls project,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/12964542.Graffiti_artist_hopes_to_cover_up__eyesore__in_Walthamstow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julian Phethean<\/a>, known internationally as Mr Cenz, has painted a mural in Forest Road and there is a 3D mural on\u00a0a building in the Ravenswood Industrial Estate that was created by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/11618324.Street_art_vision_for_Walthamstow\/?ref=mr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gary Banks and artist duo Static<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Located on Linford Road\u00a0UK Street Art collective<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hookedblog.co.uk\/2015\/02\/toasters-go-pop-in-e17.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> The Toasters<\/a> had produced a mural and there is a mural by\u00a0the\u00a0artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/12974137.Mixed_reaction_over__violent__new_mural_on_Walthamstow_wall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Harrington<\/a>\u00a0in Ray Dudley Way.
