We all have things that we could include on a bucket list. Things we’d like to do or see.
And usually we also attach the date of “someday” to these activities.
The problem is that life is uncertain. If you put off doing things who knows what fate has in store. In ten years time will you still be physically, emotionally, or financially able to do all of the things you desire?
Stop dreaming and start living!
Don’t wait for that “perfect time” to start doing those things you’ve always wanted to do. Make your bucket list now and start ticking things off.
Step 1. Start by naming your dream plan for life.
Your list will represent your Lifetime Goals and Aspirations. It’s a list of amazing things you want to experience or places you want to visit or things you want to achieve.
So, while “Bucket List” works for some people, others prefer a name for their list that reflects their life plan.
Step 2. Write down your list.
Recording your list shows you are committed to achieving the items on it. You’ll be more likely to work towards ticking them off, instead of just wishful thinking.
Step 3. Include short-term goals as well as long-term goals.
It helps to have some goals that can be completed in a weekend to balance the ones that are big lifelong dreams.
- Short-term goals can be completed easily and ticked off quickly.
- Long-term goals are things that take longer to plan and execute, and are more expensive to fulfill.
Step 4. Set realistic deadlines
Setting deadlines for goals can help stop you falling into the “someday” trap.
You can’t do everything at once, so prioritise. Decide which goals to work on now and leave others to “someday”. You can work on those when you’ve completed your current goals…….But always have a few current goals you are actively working on.
Remember that some things, e.g. visiting Christmas markets, can only be done at certain times of the year. Consider which items on your list would be best to tackle now, depending on the season.
Step 5. Keep adding ideas to your list
As you tick off items, add new goals in their place. This list is to take you a lifetime to complete, so you need to keep adding to it.
