Just when you think things are working out, life throws you a curveball
Every so often life throws you a curveball. Something that comes out of nowhere to seriously mess things up.
And occasionally that “something” that knocked you down is followed by “something else” that gives you a good kicking while you are trying to get up.
Luckily that doesn’t happen very often, thank God. (Other Deities may be available).
But, at the risk of sounding like the Labour party at the 1997 election, just remember that Things Can Only Get Better.
When life gives you lemons…….
…….you can’t demand to see life’s manager and complain.
You could make lemonade, of course. Or start looking for someone with the gin and have a party!
Sometimes it’s the small things in life that can turn a bad situation around.
You just need to look for the “gin” to add to your “lemon”. (Other drinks are available).
A couple of weeks ago I was saying to my son how I had an ever growing “bucket list” of places to visit and things to do. Unfortunately, due to a couple of curve-balls, these big plans had temporarily been put on hold.
He asked what would be my idea of a perfect day. What if I could choose anything?
And suddenly it was the small things that mattered.
Not visiting the Taj Mahal or seeing the Northern Lights, although both are on my bucket list.
Not white water rafting in the smoky mountains or hot air ballooning – I’ve done both of those already.
No, it was having my family around my big oak dining table playing board games.
And that’s just what happened this weekend. The kids came home for Sunday Dinner. A roast with all the trimmings. Then we played board games together. Perfect.
So remember to keep looking for the gin to go with your lemon……
