Last of the (summer) Apple Wine

It isn’t autumn without the sound of popping….

We’ve just used the Apple Press and Crusher for the last time this year. The final crop of apples have been juiced and are now being made into apple juice and wine. The apple juice is being drunk while the wine is fermenting.

The eating apples are in the fruit bowl and the cooking apples have been wrapped and stored. There are crumbles in the freezer and jams in the cupboard.

Come the Zombie apocalypse, we’ll be OK for a while, at least.

As usual for this time of year demijohns can be found all around the house. Grapes, plums, apples and blackberries are popping all over the place.

It isn’t autumn without the sound of popping fermentation.

What makes you think of autumn?
