Are you fed up with “not available in your region” messages?
I used a number of apps to help me find interesting news items from around the world. After the GDPR changes, I found that some of the apps no longer work and that a number of websites were no longer available.
“Sorry, this content is not available in your region” was today’s message from New York News. Short and to the point.
However, the Rapid City Journal, (the daily newspaper of Rapid City, South Dakota) The Winchester Star, (daily newspaper based in Winchester, Virginia) The Keene Sentinel (newspaper of Keene, New Hampshire) Tribune-Star (newspaper of Terre Haute, Indiana) Midland Daily News (newspaper of Midland County, Michigan) and Cadillac News, (the newspaper for Cadillac, Wexford, Missaukee, Osceola, and eastern Lake Counties in Michigan) went into details.
“451: Unavailable due to legal reasons. We recognize you are attempting to access this website from a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) including the EU which enforces the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and therefore access cannot be granted at this time.”
Who knows what is happening in these places?
An interesting treasure hunt? An interactive theatre production? A new art exhibition?
