We headed to Bournemouth to see this year’s Christmas Tree Wonderland
The Christmas Tree Wonderland trail has more than 100 glittering trees and festive illuminations. The free trail starts at the illuminated big wheel, situated in Pier Approach, before weaving through Bournemouth’s historic Lower Gardens. You can get a great view from the big wheel, before heading into the gardens.
The gardens feature themed trees from cities around the world. There is a centerpiece attraction of a 60ft LED Wonderland Tree. This tree is made up of 30,000 individual lights. It can be walked through, although there is a bit of a bottle neck when the sound and light show take place. As well as the trees the illuminations include a giant teddy bear and waterfalls.
In addition to the festive illuminations, the gardens are home to an outdoor ice rink. The town square holds an Alpine Market and an Alpine Lodge Bar.
If you fancy seeing the illuminations further afield, but without the walk, Yellow buses offer an open topped festive themed bus trip. This takes in the lights of the surrounding area. A great trip as long as it doesn’t rain.
