The BFG Dream Jar Trail

Following on from the other public art trails, this year sees the BFG Dream Jar Trail.

There will be 32 Dream Jars to discover from 9 July with another 18 in place by 22 July. Although most are in London there are a few in Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester. The art works will be on display on the streets until 31st August 2016.

The sculptures have been created to raise money for Save the Children. Celebrities and artists were asked what they dreamed of as children. These dreams were used to produce the giant Dream Jars.

The jars will be auctioned on Paddle8.com from 17 July to 31 August to support the vital work of Save the Children and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity,

Just like the Paddington bears and Shaun the Sheep sculptures, these street artworks are produced to tie with with a film release. Roald Dahl’s The BFG is being released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 22 July 2016. The story goes that the BFG keeps the good dreams in Dream Jars and that he delivers them into “childdlers” bedrooms using his giant dream trumpet.

If you go hunting for the Dream Jars, please note that some will be moved from the streets on Friday 15 July for the The BFG premiere in Leicester Square. They will return on the morning of Monday 18 July.
