World premiere
This July sees the world premiere of Groundhog Day.
This is a new musical directed by Old Vic Artistic Director Matthew Warchus, who has brought together the team behind ‘Matilda’: composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling, and designer Rob Howell.
Groundhog Day will play a strictly limited 10-week season from Friday 15 July – Saturday 17 September 2016.
The new musical is based on the 1993 film which starred Bill Murray as the weatherman who gets caught in a blizzard he didn’t predict and finds himself trapped in a time warp. In the musical, Andy Karl plays Phil Connors who is doomed to relive the same day over and over again until he gets it right.
Also caught in the mystery of Groundhog Day…….
Season 3, Episode 11 saw Supernatural have a spot of Groundhog Day.
Sam awakes to “Heat of the Moment” by Asia playing on the radio. Dean is up and dressed ready to start the day with breakfast at the local diner. After a series of unremarkable incidents, a gun goes off by mistake, the bullet hitting Dean square in the chest. Sam frantically rushes over to Dean and tearfully holds him as he dies.
Next thing Sam knows is he is waking up to Asia again. Dean isn’t dead but is getting dressed just like he did the day before…..and so begins Sam’s trip into Groundhog Day and Dean’s various methods of death.
