Battle Proms 2026

The City Adventurers headed to the Battle Proms at Hatfield House.

While the attraction was seeing and hearing the massed cannons there was so much more to see.

Cavalry through the ages. A Spitfire fly past. A display by the Red Devils.

Most people set up camp with their picnics but there were food and drink trucks available too.

And the cleanest public portaloo toilets I’ve seen at an open air pop up festival.

As the evening turned to Dusk we settled down for the evening concert.

The highlights for me started with the 1812 overture with real cannon fire.

The City Adventurers took the interval as a chance to share a glass of bubbles and some scones.

Then we were treated to Wellington’s Victory ( the Battle of Vitoria) otherwise known as the Battle Symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.
This is a 15-minute-long orchestral work and can be described as something of a musical novelty. It requires a large percussion battery including muskets and other artillery sound effects, including 193 shots from live cannon.

It is an amazing site to see.
