Currently on at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, Crazy For You is a big musical production starring Charlie Stemp. With a 34 strong cast plus 17 orchestra members, the show features some glorious Gershwin melodies, including Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm and They Can’t Take That Away From Me.
The City Adventurers were lucky enough to go and see this production recently.
The plot
Stage-struck Bobby Child is torn between his showbiz dreams and other peoples demands. His wealthy mother wants him to run the family bank in New York, and so sets him to work foreclosing on a mortgage in the quiet mining town of Deadrock, Nevada.
Things do not go to plan when he discovers the mortgage is on a dilapidated Victorian theatre. And despite having a finance waiting for him, he also discovers the theatre owner’s daughter Polly is the girl of his dreams.
What is a boy to do? Why, put on a show, complete with New York Follies dancers, of course!
But will his attempts to save the theatre work? Go see the show for yourself and find out.
