The City Adventurers took a trip to the Paradox Museum, an optical illusion museum, in Knightsbridge.

What is the Paradox Museum? Exit Reality, Enter Fun!
Forget everything you think you know about museums. The Paradox Museum is not a place for dusty artifacts and quiet contemplation; it’s a mind-bending, eye-tricking, and completely interactive destination designed to challenge your perception of reality.
It’s an innovative venue filled with over 50 exhibits based on optical illusions and scientific paradoxes. Think of it as a playground for your brain, where the laws of physics seem to have been suspended and your senses are happily deceived. Every room is an immersive experience where you don’t just look—you become part of the illusion!
From the moment you step inside, you’re entering a world where nothing makes sense, yet everything feels real.

Why You Should Visit the Paradox Museum
So, why should this unconventional attraction be next on your list? Here are three reasons the Paradox Museum is a must-visit:
1. The Ultimate Photo Opportunity
The Paradox Museum is an absolute goldmine for unique, hilarious, and mind-boggling photos.
Take some friends so you can photograph each other. Yes, it has been hailed as a great place for selfies, but some of the exhibits work better if someone else is holding the camera.
Don’t feel it is only for people who need some scroll-stopping content for their social media, either. Once you start taking fun photos you’ll find you can’t stop.
- Twist Perception: Watch your friends appear to shrink or grow, or create the illusion of your body being split in two on the famous Paradox Sofa.
- Vanish: Try to find your friends hiding in plain sight in the Camouflage Room or get lost in the endless reflections of the Infinity Well.
Every exhibit is designed with the camera in mind, and helpful markers are often placed on the floor to show you the perfect spot to stand.

2. A Brain-Teasing, Educational Adventure
The museum has a universal appeal. As well as the playful, hands-on nature of the exhibits, you can discover the clever science and design behind the illusions.
The Paradox Museum is a fascinating exploration of human perception. While you’re enjoying the spectacle, you’ll also be learning about the science of optics, perspective, and how easily our brains can be tricked. Many exhibits have accompanying information that explain the principles behind the illusions, turning a fun visit into an unexpectedly educational one. It sparks curiosity and encourages you to question what you see, long after you’ve left the building!

3. A “Defy Gravity” Experience
The adverts often promote the Defy Gravity experience. Your chance to pose like an astronaut floating weightlessly in the Zero Gravity Room. You need to sign a waiver to go in this room and you need to be fit as you will be moving constantly.
The staff set up your phone to video you while you are in the room, so no worries about trying to take photos. The room moves and you move with it while the phone stays steady and gives you a fantastic show….or that is what is supposed to happen. In our case, there were two nimble City Adventurers and me. Lumbering around the room is not recommended, so if you are not sprightly I suggest you give this part of the attraction a miss.
