Hallowe’en Party

First published in the UK in  1969 Hallowe’en Party  by Agatha Christie features Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.

The mystery novelist Ariadne Oliver attends a Hallowe’en party where teenager Joyce Reynolds  claims that years ago she witnessed a murder. She says that,  as she was so young at the time, she had not realized it was a murder. However no-one believes her and she storms off home.

Within hours Joyce’s body is discovered, drowned in an apple-bobbing tub.

Ariadne Oliver calls in Poirot to solve the murder. His first task is to establish whether he is looking for a murderer or a double-murderer…

Hallowe’en Party has also been adapted for television.  David Suchet stared as Hercule Poirot in the 2010 production of Agatha Christie:Poirot: Season 12, Episode 2
