Lewis Carroll
Until recently I had no idea that Lewis Carroll, author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, had also written a Christmas poem. Entitled Christmas Greetings (From a Fairy to a Child) it has been put to music by Carsten Braun
Through the Looking-Glass Treasure Hunt
Treasure Hunts in London is organising a Twixmas Treasure Hunt called “Through the Looking-Glass”. Being played between Christmas and New Year Celebrations, join Alice as she ventures through the looking glass for an adventure around the National Gallery. On this hunt you will discover that nothing is what it seems. Along the way solve themed puzzles and complete photo challenges. The treasure hunt ends with drinks at a nearby pub and National Gallery prizes for the winners.

Christmas Greetings (From a Fairy to a Child)
Lady dear, if Fairies may
For a moment lay aside
Cunning tricks and elfish play,
‘Tis at happy Christmas-tide.
We have heard the children say–
Gentle children, whom we love–
Long ago, on Christmas Day,
Came a message from above.
Still, as Christmas-tide comes round,
They remember it again –
Echo still the joyful sound
“Peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Yet the hearts must childlike be
Where such heavenly guests abide:
Unto children, in their glee,
All the year is Christmas-tide!
Thus, forgetting tricks and play
For a moment, Lady dear,
We would wish you, if we may,
Merry Christmas, glad New Year! –
Lewis Carroll Memorial Window
All Saints’ Church Daresbury contains the unusual stained glass window which marks the centenary of Lewis Carroll’s birth. Dedicated in 1935, it was paid for by global fans of the author. The window, designed by Geoffrey Webb, depicts a Nativity scene containing both author (Carroll) and his creation (Alice). Below are 5 panels illustrated with characters and scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
