THE PEACE ONE DAY CONCERT CELEBRATED GLOBAL TRUCE 2012
Started 10 years ago, Peace One Day led the initiative to establish the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence, unanimously adopted by United Nations member states as 21 September – Peace Day. Peace Day actions have been introduced in areas of conflict, most notably in Afghanistan, where Peace Day agreements have led to the vaccination against polio of 4.5 million children in recent years.
For Peace Day21 September 2012, Peace One Day called for a day of ceasefire and non-violence across the world – the Global Truce 2012 campaign.
The PEACE ONE DAY CONCERT took place at Wembley Arena on 21st September 2012. Headlining the concert was Elton John. Other performers included James Morrison and 2Cellos.
The show included contributions from Peace One Day founder, Jeremy Gilley and Peace One Day Ambassador, Jude Law. The Peace One Day Celebration was streamed via the Peace One Day’s YouTube channel on Peace Day.
Past Peace One Day music-driven celebrations have been held at the Royal Albert Hall, London; Brixton Academy, London; Le Grand Rex, Paris and Le Zenith, Paris and the O2 arena London.
