The City Adventurers attended an Evening of Unnecessary Detail at the Royal Institution.
The Royal Institution of Great Britain is an organisation for scientific education and research, founded in 1799. In the basement there is the Faraday Museum which is free to visit.
After looking around the museum we headed upstairs to the library, then into the lecture hall ready for the evenings performance.
An Evening of Unnecessary Detail is hosted by the members of Festival of the Spoken Nerd – Matt Parker Steve Mould and Helen Arney. Billed as “A nerdy variety night” it was a mixture of lectures on a variety of topics. The lectures were presented by enthusiasts, scientists, miscellaneous experts and/or comedians. The Unnecessary Detail part being that they were free to talk about whatever they wanted! All the talks were interesting and well presented. We left feeling we’d learnt details about some things we may never have thought much about before.
