BEFORE THE WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN…
Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.
Stranger Things The First Shadow is a whole new adventure that takes you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story. – and may hold the key to the end.
The Review
The City Adventurers had heard that Stranger Things The First Shadow was a technical marvel. And it was. From the opening scene with the ship, to the way the actors were moved across the stage…..
And what acting. Great work from all however, the performance by the lead actor was exceptional.
Stop beating about the bush, do we recommend it? Yes we do and we have already recommended it to other members of the City Adventurers. A number have since been to see the show and have sent feedback comments such as “Brilliant” and “The Special Effects are amazing!”
Do you need to have seen the Netflix series before you see the show? No, not really. While I had seen the whole Stranger Things series, so knew a lot of the characters and references, my partner had only seen the first series. He got some of the references but not all. And the friends we went with had not seen the Netflix series at all. However we were all blown away by the production. So, no, you do not need to know the series at all to enjoy the show.
The staging and the acting hold your attention from the time the show starts to the time it ends. The way it neatly ties into the start of the Netflix series drew gasps from the audience. If you know you know. But if you don’t, it doesn’t matter.
