After exploring the Lindisfarne Priory, the City Adventurers headed over to Lindisfarne Castle.
Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop, the castle was originally a Tudor fort. It was later converted into a super stylish holiday home by the famous architect, Edwin Lutyens. This mix of military history and Edwardian design makes it a really unique place. As you climb the winding path to the entrance, the views of the sea and the island are absolutely breathtaking.

Inside, the castle is full of quirky details and beautiful spaces. It’s not what you’d expect from a castle or a fort – it’s more like a grand, artistic home. We loved the cozy-looking rooms that just make you want to curl up with a good book. The attention to detail in every room is just incredible.

The best bit, though, is definitely the rooftop. The panoramic views from up there are simply stunning. You can see for miles across the sea and back over Holy Island. It’s the perfect spot to appreciate the remote beauty of the place….and you get a great view of Lindisfarne Priory from Lindisfarne Castle.

If you’re ever on Holy Island, don’t miss the chance to visit Lindisfarne Castle. It’s an unforgettable experience, full of character and charm, and a fantastic way to cap off a day of exploring.
