As the City adventurers are unable to actually visit escape rooms, I am going to add my reviews of Escape Games in a box that can be played at home.

Exit: The Pharaoh’s Tomb

EXIT Escape Rooms In A Box  can only be played once as some of the pieces are destroyed during play, unlike the Deckscape game. Depending on the game, you may need to cut, fold or draw on some of the components.

True, once you’ve played the game, you should know how to solve the puzzles so why would you play the same game again? Well people do play a murder mystery in a box game more than once as, although they know who-dun-it, the game play is different with a different group of friends.

We tend to play as a group of four players, although a problem with playing as a larger group is that there is only one paper booklet for everyone to study. As well as the notebook, the box contains a deck of cards containing clues, riddles and puzzles and an Egyptian hieroglyphics code wheel.

When you have solved a riddle, you put the code into the circular coding wheel. If you have the correct answer, you will be rewardwed with more cards. But if you got it wrong the wheel will tell you to try again.

The Pharaoh’s Tomb is rated at four out of five for difficulty.

The plot of EXIT: The Pharaoh’s Tomb

The excursion to the Valley of the Kings is the highlight of your vacation to Egypt. As you crawl through the narrow passageways, you lose the rest of your tour group. You enter a mysterious burial chamber. A massive stone door closes behind you. On the floor lie a dusty notebook and an ancient disk … Can you solve the riddles left for you by an earlier pyramid explorer and escape the tomb?
